I enjoy memoirs and this one was no exception. Her portrayal of being a Jew during the Holocaust is raw and honest in that many of her feelings are typical for being a teenager. Equally impressive with her resilience was how much detail Gerda remembered. Highly recommend!

This was a very hard read, but l also think so important. This book shows the evil people are capable of, but also the importance of acts of kindness- no matter how small. It‘s chilling to think of how easily the German people accepted the Nazis antisemitism. A lesson to us all

This book is a biography about the author Gerda Weissmann Klein and her family during the brutal times of world war 2. It tells you her story, what she and her family went through and how she survived. This is a good book to use with high school students and a good teaching strategy would be story telling. #ucflae3414f19

This was good but tough read for me. It's always hard to read memoir of survivors of such horrible events in our history. Yet, I believe it is important for people to learn and understand. It's not the best written memoir, but I believe Mrs. Klein's story is something that others can learn from. 3.5 out of 5.

This is Book #2 on my local libraries senior reading olympics must read booklist. This is an unforgettable memoir of Gerda Klein and her six years of being a victim of Nazi cruelty. She had a terrifying journey and this story is certainly one that people won‘t ever forget after they read it! 📚

#giveawaythetruth I've been trying to read more memoirs this year, but this one was the first and has been my favorite since I read it in my high school English class.
