The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo meets Sharp Objects in this internationally bestselling psychological thriller, for fans of Jo Nesb and Henning Mankell, now for the first time in English. Danish journalist Heloise Kaldan is in the middle of a nightmare. One of her sources has been caught lying, and she could lose her job over it. Then she receives the first in a series of cryptic and unsettling letters from a woman named Anna Kiel. Wanted in connection with the fatal stabbing of a young lawyer three years earlier, Anna hasn't been seen by anyone since she left the crime scene covered in blood. The police think she's fled the country until homicide detective Erik Schfer comes up with a lead after the reporter who originally wrote about the case is found murdered in his apartment. Has Anna Kiel struck again, or is there more than one killer at large? And why does every clue point directly to Heloise Kaldan? Meanwhile, the letters keep coming, and they hint at a connection between Anna and Heloise. As Heloise starts digging deeper, she realizes that to tell Anna's story she will have to revisit the darkest parts of her own past--confronting someone she swore she'd never see again. The Corpse Flower is the first in the #1 bestselling Danish crime series, the Kaldan and Schfer mysteries.

I enjoyed this start to this new Danish series. Yes, it definitely has strong THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO vibes, but there are some surprises to the plot and I enjoyed the characters and the setting. I thought it was funny that the author made the comparison to her lead detective as a “Tony Soprano” type because I couldn‘t imagine anyone else after that! It feels smoothly translated and I‘m looking forward to the next one in the series!

This was an interesting thriller with a dark plot. It deals with some fairly heavy subjects. The plot is a slow burn with no dramatic conclusion as much is already known. I must admit the final ending with Anna was not what i'd hoped for. I wanted to see the guilty party truly pay but it did fit with the feel of the story however. Heloise is a great lead and I liked the detective she works with. #Netgalley 3*

Really enjoyed this story. Set in Copenhagen, it follows a journalist who has received mysterious letters from a woman accused of murder who has never been found. I believe this is the first in a series. I hope the next book is released in the US soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Corpse Flower starts three years ago, a lawyer is stabbed, but the woman who did it got away. A journalist starts to receive letter from the fugitive. All the characters are connected in some way or other. I would have liked this a bit more if it did not feel so rushed. I think this was trying too hard to be like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

I didn‘t love this one tremendously but I didn‘t hate it at all either.. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I definitely loved the outcomes that the characters ultimately got, which makes it worth the read!

Between a Pick and a So-So. It's a good crime novel, but not outstanding. The characters are ok, but won't be remembered. It's a nordic crime novel perfect for fans, but to weak to compare to other books in the genre. I've had some nice hours listening to the audio book, it's perfect for doing chores.

Trigger warning (SPOILER): child abuse!
