Excalibur Curse
Excalibur Curse | Kiersten White
7 posts | 12 read | 2 to read
The gripping conclusion to the acclaimed Arthurian fantasy trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White finds Guinevere questioning everything--friends and enemies, good and evil, and, most of all, herself. While journeying north toward the Dark Queen, Guinevere falls into the hands of her enemies. Behind her are Lancelot, trapped on the other side of the magical barrier they created to protect Camelot, and Arthur, who has been led away from his kingdom, chasing after false promises. But the greatest danger isn't what lies ahead of Guinevere--it's what's been buried inside her. Vowing to unravel the truth of her past with or without Merlin's help, Guinevere joins forces with the sorceress Morgana and her son, Mordred--and faces the confusing, forbidden feelings she still harbors for him. When Guinevere makes an agonizing discovery about who she is and how she came to be, she finds herself with an impossible choice: fix a terrible crime, or help prevent war. Guinevere is determined to set things right, whatever the cost. To defeat a rising evil. To remake a kingdom. To undo the mistakes of the past...even if it means destroying herself. Guinevere has been a changeling, a witch, a queen--but what does it mean to be just a girl?

I can‘t believe I forgot to review this (but I‘ve got a lot of reviews to catch up on). I loved the first book so much that I taught it as part of a class centered on magic in Arthurian legends - and this offers the perfect ending to the story. I love the explanation of who Guinevere truly is. I got that wrong and thought the twist would be obvious. It wasn‘t… or at least not how I expected it to be. I still want my own Lancelot. Huge book crush.

So many twist and turns...Oh MY! You have no idea what to expect yet are still shocked by the turn of events throughout. Guinevere, Lancelot, Mordred and Arthur are so intertwined that they could untangle if they wanted. So many forces at work that you have to question allegiances.

“He doesn‘t need me because I am strong enough. He needs me because I am weak enough”
Very satisfying ending, loose ends all tied up. Story end the way King Arthur‘s story is known today. No mention of the girl who fought for Camelot. But she is there. This final book felt like tearing Guinevere apart and rebuilding her. From what she was told to be to what she desired -even after finding what SHE desires at all. Love Lancelot. She‘s a role model

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 345.

What a story. I just finished the last book in the Camelot Rising trilogy, and I am feeling all sorts of things. I wish for so many things. It wasn't the best out of the three books, but I cannot deny that it was the perfect ending for our beloved Guinevere.

Kiersten White's writing is still what I love most about these books. Her strong cast of characters, particularly the women (you have to meet Fina!), is a close second.

asterese Please do not miss out on this series if you love YA, fantasy, women-centered stories, and Arthurian retellings. Kiersten masterfully blends all of these 4 elements here, and I am really happy that I got to read this entire trilogy this year.

Happy Release Day to Kiersten White's The Excalibur Curse, the much-anticipated third book to the Camelot Rising trilogy! 🥳 I can't wait to have my heart broken, and my feelings messed with, just like with the last two books. 🥲
