Very excited to have just gotten this upcoming Jaron Lanier book on Netgalley. I am wondering if the cover is a punny warning of a cat-ass-trophy? 🤔

This book is a sort of philosophy of technology. The author talks about how our current models of networks and software can be dehumanizing and ways to combat that trend. It's a big concept kind of book and I'm sure I didn't understand all of it, but I good enough of it to make this a really good read. This is for the @bookriot #readharder2017 prompt: "a nonfiction book about technology." I'm now at 37/50 challenge books read for the year.
This book is so interesting! This little sidebar is about why smells are so much harder to duplicate with computers than images or sound. I like this way of thinking about smelling! 😊
Sorry had to post this one to. This is a sentiment I hear about litsy all the time. I feel the same way. We're not classified into arbitrary groups that choose this forum for interacting. This book is definitely smarter than me! Lots of interesting things to say about technology though.
We have to think about the digital layers we are laying down now in order to benefit future generations. We should be optimistic that civilization will survive this challenging century, and put some effort into creating the best possible world for those who will inherit our efforts.
