Nope…….I skimmed the last 1/3 because it was so boring. The characters were aggravating.

Highly romanticized version of ranch life set in CO. Lots of casual sexism--consensual sex initiated by a woman is "taking her virtue," blatant assumption that single working mom=bad mom, and the dangerous idea that men show they are really in love by being jealous and possessive. Martin doesn't say the murder victims deserved to be beaten and strangled to death for being cheating sluts, but clearly implies their choices lead to their murders. ?

Can always count on Kat Martin to get me out of a book slump! The Last Goodnight did exactly that. Ellie, a private investigator, is hired by Kade to figure out who murdered his wife 8 years prior. While Ellie tries to focus on the investigation, she can‘t help but get side tracked by a number of unexpected events, including Kade himself. While I enjoyed it, I really didn‘t care for how it all wrapped up.

I have been in the biggest reading slump lately so I decided to switch things up. I can always count on Kat Martin so when I saw The Last Goodnight at B&N, I couldn‘t pass it up!

Now I am hooked 😍📖

Ugh. This one isn't even good enough to justify taking a picture of. It was misogynistic & gross. I can't understand the high marks on Goodreads. Ellie has potential to be a great protagonist but the description of every person as "hot" & the sexual urges that take focus off the mystery were yucky. This felt like smut & that's not really my jam. ⭐⭐ Wish I would have DNF'd.

This is the first of The Blood Ties series by Kat Martin. This is a first read for me by this author.

The relationship between the characters is not really believable, and the sex scenes and sexual innuendo seems to overshadow the suspense of the real story.
