For my sporadic participation on #day11 of #augustphotochallenge #augustofpages my pick for #politicsandbooks is by a man I deeply respect and had the chance to spend some time with a few years ago, Dr. Cornel West. Not everything in this book is overtly political, but if you're interested in #socialjustice, #humanrights, or the basic roots of #BLM, this is an essential read.

GinaAnderson Lucky you. 8y
ImaginativeMom @GinaAnderson Don't I know it! I only had about twenty minutes with him, but I'll never forget it. We talked mainly about civil rights, but also joked about the heat in the south and he took genuine interest in me and my story. Later, I heard him speak on a couple panels. So, so lucky. 8y
Tammygrrrl I got to hear him speak at The Justice Conference in Chicago last year. Straight up prophetic. 8y
ImaginativeMom @Tammygrrrl Oh lucky you!! I bet that was terrific. 8y
