This is such a cool book. It‘s HUGE and it combines my new(ish) found love of Nature Poetry and my long time love of Nature Photography. When I bought this, I had no idea I‘d used the book to get suggestions last spring.

I know Whitman, Gill, and Berry, but what are some other poets that write nature poetry to check out? Or even specific collections by Berry or anyone else? Please and thank you!!!

GingerAntics @TheBookHippie maybe this is a better question to ask: who are your favourite poets?! lol I‘m trying to remember who else (there was at least one other litten) also suggested Wendell. I‘m going to have to just pull the trigger on him and start somewhere, I think. 5y
TheBookHippie Ohhhhh my word okay I‘ll make a list...be back soon. 5y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie you‘re awesome!!! Thanks!!! 🙏 5y

GingerAntics @TheBookHippie that is one hell of a list. Phew, okay. I‘m going to have to digest all that. I keep hearing good things about Mary Oliver. I‘m interesting in Cummings, as well. 5y
TheBookHippie @GingerAntics 🤣🤣🤣I‘ve read poetry for 40 years for zen. It‘s a love. 5y
TheBookHippie @GingerAntics I would think you‘d love Mary Oliver. 5y

TheBookHippie @GingerAntics I agree some are 🤢 once you find your grove you end up being able to pick it up easier, and know instantly thumbing through if it‘s your thing or not. 5y
TheBookHippie Tupac has beautiful poetry I use it with kids all the time just depends on the person. 5y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie Tupac, like the rapper? I can see that. Some rap songs, when reading the lyrics, are amazingly deep and insightful. 5y
GingerAntics @TheBookHippie he actually wrote poetry!!! I never knew that. I have to find that now. Please hold. 5y

“Whenever the moon and stars are set,
Whenever the wind is high,
All night long in the dark and wet,
A man goes riding by.
Late in the night when the fires are out,
Why does he gallop and gallop about?”

This book is great! I love how the poems are broken up into different categories that relate to certain parts of nature, like animals and natural disasters etc. The pictures are also beautiful and so fun to look at.

After seeing one of my Litsy friend's post, I purchased this book to include as a birthday gift for my husband. He loves poetry, photography and nature. Sounded perfect. Alas, when it arrived, I realized that it was just too juvenile for his taste. But not for mine! So, I acquired this lovely book and here is a poem that is dedicated to this current snow storm. #blameitonlitsy #poetry @BookishShelly My cover doesn't look like the one you posted 🤔

BookishShelly Yeah I got it from the kids area of the library when looking for books for 4 year old son. But I'm glad you like it. 8y

Picked this up today at the library for the kids to use when we homeschool this year, and I think I might end up loving it even more than they will.
