Latchkey Ladies (Classic Reprint)
Latchkey Ladies (Classic Reprint) | Marjorie Grant
1 post | 2 to read
Excerpt from Latchkey Ladies Hat the serpent really tempted Eve with, Anne Carey said gloomily, was a latchkey. She had been too tired to eat the boiled beef - with plentiful greens - that the Mimosa Club provided for members on Thursday nights. But by the time the hot, burnt coffee was handed round, and she had taken the large cup that Dolly the fat-checked maid had remem bered to bring her - large cup a penny extra - she began to emerge from the physical languor that had kept her silent, and a faint colour came into her face. #Bookmail to brighten my afternoon! Can‘t wait to try another pick from Handheld Press. Marjorie Grant was a Canadian novelist and reviewer. A close friend of Rose Macaulay. This novel from 1921 is described as “powerful and moving… about the lives and choices of single women.” Sounds wonderful and I am so in love with this cover.
