At the heart of this story is apartheid,but this is also the story about inner, intimate struggles. And that is exactly what makes this story masterful and complex. A very political story set in 70‘s, about white guilt, responsibility and where ideas and themes are presented through characterization. Powerful.

- current audiobook in progress is Stalin‘s Daughter by R.Sullivan for #NfNov and is excellent nonfiction companion to the fictional Burger‘s Daughter. I have only 5 hours till the end of the book, so my next audiobook is going to be Norse Mythology by N.Gaiman for #AuthorAMonth

This was one my books for Reading Nobel Women. Gordimer is one of the winners for the prize in Literature and I definitely understand why. This book takes place in the middle of the antiapartheid movement and she uses Rosa's place in and/or outside of the struggle to showcase many points. There were moments that really resonate, even now in the US with the way people are, specifically a scene about a donkey.

If you don't follow BOTM they just posted a list of their judges/staff's "most significant books." Makes for a great TBR list. I've read most (and recommend most) but haven't read or even heard of Burger's Daughter. TBR just got longer. What do you think of the list? Which is your fav from it?
