Kindling the Moon: An Arcadia Bell Novel | Jenn Bennett
3 posts | 5 read | 10 to read
Meet Arcadia Bell: bartender, renegade magician, fugitive from the law. . . . Being the spawn of two infamous occultists (and alleged murderers) isnt easy, but freewheeling magician Arcadia Cady Bell knows how to make the best of a crummy situation. After hiding out for seven years, shes carved an incognito niche for herself slinging drinks at the demon-friendly Tambuku Tiki Lounge. But she receives an ultimatum when unexpected surveillance footage of her notorious parents surfaces: either prove their innocence or surrender herself. Unfortunately, the only witness to the crimes was an elusive thyric demon, and Cady has no idea how to find it. She teams up with Lon Butler, an enigmatic demonologist with a special talent for sexual spells and an arcane library of priceless stolen grimoires. Their research soon escalates into a storm of conflict involving missing police evidence, the decadent Hellfire Club, a ruthless bounty hunter, and a powerful occult society that operates way outside the law. If Cady cant clear her family name soon, shell be forced to sacrifice her own life . . . and no amount of running will save her this time.

I enjoyed reading this first installment in the Arcadia Bell urban fantasy series. It came highly recommended by Lucy Parker, and I'm glad I liked it well enough to continue with the series. It has an age gap, slow burn romance.👌 I don't want to stress myself out cutting my review short to fit the character limit so linking to my original bookstagram instead: https://www.instagram.com/p/BeV0_GsF-qe/

Smangela Is that your pants/skirt? It‘s gorgeous whatever it is 😍 and so is that latte 6y
Chachic @Smangela It's a skirt made out of batik fabric from Indonesia. It's comfy, has pockets and I always get compliments whenever I wear it.❤ 6y
Smangela It is certainly stunning! I‘ve been living in basically athletic-wear since my son was born (yea... he‘s a year old now🤦🏻‍♀️) I need to wear something like that more often! 6y

UrsulaMonarch Everything about this photo is gorgeous!! 👏 6y
Chachic @Smangela Oh I'm all for comfy clothes! There are days when I just wear shorts and whatever top is handy. But I like wearing something nice from time to time.😊 6y
Chachic @UrsulaMonarch Aww thank you so much! Glad you like it. It was worth spilling coffee on my skirt then.😂☕ 6y
UrsulaMonarch @Chachic 😂😂😂 (PS I hadn't even noticed the bracelet on first viewing!! Lovely!) 6y
Chachic @UrsulaMonarch I got a few bracelets recently because I kept using the same ones for ages.😂 6y

When you try to take a nice bookstagram/Litsy shot but spill coffee on your skirt instead.😂☕📚

Current read is the first book in the Arcadia Bell urban fantasy series: Kindling the Moon. This was another title recommended by Lucy Parker on Twitter and it's only 1.99usd on Kindle so I don't mind giving it a try.

Chachic @MarriedtoMrT Not sure if you've heard of this but I remember you enjoyed the author's YA novel, 6y
melissanorr I'm always looking for good urban fantasy to read so thanks for sharing! 6y
Chachic @melissanorr Same! I keep trying to find urban fantasy to love as much as I love Ilona Andrews' books. 6y

melissanorr Yes! Every urban fantasy I see says "if you love Kate Daniels" or "the next Kate Daniels" but so few of them even come close to being as good. 6y
Chachic @melissanorr For me so far, NONE of them have been close to being as good.😂 Which other series have you enjoyed reading? I usually try the first 1-2 then give up. 6y
melissanorr I like both of Patricia Briggs' series but they really aren't like Kate Daniels at all. I enjoyed several of the Elemental Assassin books by Jennifer Estep but have fallen behind in that series because my library didn't have some of them. 6y
melissanorr A friend recommended the Dark Ink Chronicles by Jasper and the Skinwalker series (I think that's the name) but I haven't had a chance to try either yet. 6y
Chachic @melissanorr Ah I tried both of Patricia Briggs' series but didn't think they were a good fit for me. Will take note of the others when I have the chance to try a new series! 6y
MarriedtoMrT @Chachic I was trying to remember if or how much of this book I read before responding and was having trouble, hence the delay! 😂 I know I borrowed it a couple times and maybe started it but never finished. I‘m interested to see what you think! I might need to revisit because I do love Alex and I really enjoy urban fantasy. 6y
Chachic @MarriedtoMrT Oh you tried reading it! Well the Kindle edition is just 1.99usd if you do decide to give it a try.😂 Will let you know how it goes. 6y
