Angie is crushed. She's always faced her problems by working "twice as hard to get half as far and until now, that's done well for her. When did it all get so complicated? Suddenly, she begins to question everything. Her career choice, her friendships, even why she's attracted to men who don't love her as much as she loves them. And just when things couldn't get more confusing, enter Ricky, brilliant, handsome, thoughtful, sexy, but who has wasteman practically tattooed across his forehead. 🎧 Romance … cute, sweet, enjoyed it … a bit of an angsty miscommunication trope or just an MC with unreal expectations that does a lot of assuming … I wasn‘t overly fond of Angie … way too conflicted … but I loved the nerdinesss & Ricky … her love interest. Angie figured it out in the end making it a read to finish!

I really liked this book. It was a cute story and it had me in tears at one point because it was so sweet! There were a few times when I was sad but overall it was so good!

MyNamesParadise Glad that it was good! I checked this out from the library but ended up returning it because I just had too many books checked out! Lol. Maybe I‘ll put it back on my list! 1y
NikkiKey94 @MyNamesParadise I had to send it back twice before I finally finished it! You should definitely read it! 1y

Angie has lots of pressure on her. She‘s supposed to be the perfect immigrant daughter, the perfect student, the perfect sister and friend. But things begin to unravel when she scores poorly on a critical test. Angie is suddenly uncertain about her path, which has always been clear before. Liked watching her grow, even as she stumbled, until she was able to figure out who and what she wanted to be and started defining herself on her own terms.

Reggie This sounds good! 2y

It feels amazing to “see“ myself in the books I read. I knew I would love this book from the dedication page it did not disappoint. I'm not nor will I ever be medical student but I was once “... at age twelve, scouring the shelves for books about girls who looked like me, whose suffering wasn't supposed to be the subject of discussion in English class.“ And I am a “... dark-skinned girl for whom self-love is a continued, arduous process.“
