I didn‘t get a lot of reading done in December - going back to work after a month away and the shock of having seen snow fall in ?? to some brutal summer heatwaves in ?? was not a fun adjustment (today is also awful - it‘s 18°C/31°F hotter than the average January temperature - top temperature today was 40°C/104°F with no overnight cool change)

So a return to Shady Hollow was just right!

The MSW vibes are strong in this one with Vera finding herself smack bang in the middle of a very strange case - a wife claiming that her husband has been murdered… but he‘s standing right next to her, looking rather alarmed. While most seem content to believe that Dorothy has had a break with reality - Vera feels that something is not quite right & investigates. I listened to this in a day, couldn‘t wait to see if I was right about what happened!

When a local rat returns home claiming her husband has been murdered, & that the rat claiming to be her husband is an impostor, it‘s up to Vera Vixen to investigate.
Good grief I just really love these stories. The settings are so cozy & chill, w/ returning minor characters, & follow through of previous storylines! Chef‘s kiss. Makes me want to rewatch something like Rosemary and Thyme, and immediately start the next book! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

Book 3 of the Shady Hollow series is set in the fall season with cozy food & drink & town elections with🐻Orville running for Police Chief while 🦊Reporter Vera Vixen has a new mystery to solve. One of the Mirror Lake rats 🐭claims her husband was murdered even though he‘s right there. I‘m working my way through this cozy mystery series before the new one is out in July & enjoying the small town of animals vibe.

I am now forcing myself to step back from this series, both so I don't get burned out and so I have books to look forward to when life is too much and I need a cozy mystery to take my out of my own brain.
But really, this series is a delight.

Already planning to reread this in autumn 🍂 some knitting 🧶 some reading 📖 perfect start to a Saturday ☺️ another excellent mystery begins
