#uniquefactaboutme - I was diagnosed with arthritis at 14, meaning I've lived with the disease for 29 years. I'm allergic to the medication, so my mother found this book which I've stuck to (with a few tweaks over the years). I'm now fully vegetarian, and also don't eat fruit and a range of vegetables and other things as they will cause me to flare. I think I'm in better shape than most who have had this disease for as long as I have.
TheSpinecrackersBookClub Wow. This is amazing I'll have to have a look. My dad has had rheumatoid artritis for the last 27 years. 8y
subwayreads Very inspiring :) 8y
mllemay My mother was also diagnosed with arthritis (spondylitis) at a young age and she's been able to stay off meds through dietary changes. The power of food is pretty incredible! 8y

Dogearedcopy I don't suffer from arthritis; but I find this absolutely fascinating! 8y
Dogearedcopy What I mean to say, is that I find the whole concept of dietary changes impacting osteopathic issues something of a revelation. I understood the benefits of clean and specified foods on organs and even hormonal levels; but it never occurred to me that it would impact the bones (outside of calcium = bone density.) I will pick this up for my DH... 8y
annahenke Wow, that's awesome! I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and arthritis at 10, but thankfully I am not allergic to the meds. 27 years later, I'm just now exploring dietary options to enhance treatment. I'll be picking this up! 8y
annahenke Excuse me: 17 years later 😊 8y
Lizpixie I can definitely relate. I've had arthritis in most joints, my pelvis, back and neck for eighteen years now. I've been on medication since then but now have a hiatus hernia & stomach ulcer from them. Problem is, changing my diet so drastically isn't an option because my autonomic neuropathy causes so many stomach issues. Kudos to you for managing so well, does the humidity in qld cause problems with swelling? 8y
Trav Very inspiring Sue! 8y
BookishFeminist So cool you found such a great way to work around your pain. Much awe for you! ❤️ 8y
Sue @TheSpinecrackersBookClub @subwayreads @mllemay @Dogearedcopy @ahenke @Lizpixie @Trav @BookishFeminist Thanks folks :) 8y
Sue @Dogearedcopy It's more about the effect the food has on your dysfunctional immune system than on the joints themselves. :) @ahenke I hope it helps :) @Lizpixie That sucks :( I have it in my spine neck ribs as well these days and it's not fun. The humidity definitely has an adverse effect - my left foot is the worst for swelling and o generally need to wear a brace during summer so it doesn't get too out of control. 8y
Lizpixie The worst part is waking up in the morning, that first step out of bed is a killer. I have braces for my ankles, knees & wrists, & now my toes are giving me hell. Some days, a wheelchair looks really good😣 8y
Sue @Lizpixie 😢 Hugs. And whatever works for you. 8y
Lizpixie @sue same to you lovey❤️❤️, I might just track down a copy of this and give it a whirl. The thing that gives me nightmares is, if I'm this bad at 45, what's it gonna be like when I'm 55? 60?😱 8y
MrBook 😳😱😢😭 8y
Sue @Lizpixie I know what you mean ❤️ @MrBook ❤️😊 8y
