Metro Girl
Metro Girl | Janet Evanovich
Alexandra (Barney) Barnaby roars onto the Miami Beach scene in hot pursuit of her missing baby brother, "Wild" Bill. Leave it to the maverick of the family to get Barney involved with high-speed car chases, a search for sunken treasure, and Sam Hooker, a NASCAR driver who’s good at revving a woman's engine. Engaged in a deadly race, Bill has "borrowed" Hooker's sixty-five-foot Hatteras and sailed off into the sunset...just when Hooker has plans for the boat. Hooker figures he'll attach himself to Barney and maybe run into scumbag Bill. And better yet, maybe he'll get lucky in love with Bill's sweetie pie sister. The pedal will have to go to metal if Barney and Hooker want to be the first to cross the finish line, save Bill, Hooker's boat...and maybe the world.

Maybe Janet Evanovich isn't an author for me. I enjoyed the Fox and O'Hare series, but thought The Recovery Agent was just so-so, and this book is awful. So full of cliches and cheesy dialogue, that I assume passed for witty banter in 2005. I'm happy to send this back to the library.

tokorowilliamwallace Hmm, I picked this up from a local little free street library as a potential to get into this author. I like cheesy dialogue/banter; my current Robert Ludlum is full of it. 2y

#songsofsummer @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 This colourful book takes place in #Miami. I haven‘t read it yet but I like Evanovich.

rretzler Is that a plumeria I see? I love their scent! 5y
StayCurious @rretzler it‘s actually soap I got from Thailand! But it smells lovely🤗 5y
rretzler The flowers have such a wonderful scent. I‘ve thought for years that I should try to get a tree cutting to see if I could raise one indoors. 5y
OriginalCyn620 Nice photo! 5y

You can definitely seen the evolution from Stephanie Plum to Fox and O'Hare in this, but it feels too much like a not quite right Stephanie knock off, so I can see why Evanovich got a co-writer for F&O'H. The narrative voice in this is too similar to Steph.
