At one point as a #longtimefed I was pretty familiar with the Miami airport, whether as the destination or a transit point. I also spent a long day at the airport greeting arriving participants and getting them onto the right shuttle bus. For another conference, my room overlooked the main runway.
Anyway, in addition to the sandwiches from La Careta, I also like the artwork on the walls.

pickI‘m in a cozy mystery mood. A young Cuban American mother reluctantly moves to the affluent Miami suburbs to be closer to her in laws. And you guessed it - gets tangled in a murder investigation. What I enjoyed was the peak into Cuban American culture and food.

I recently (finally) started watching Dexter: New Blood, which is a solid continuation after a couple supremely disappointing seasons of the original run. I remember enjoying the first book, but having no urge to continue the series.
“While we ate, Mami sat as far from us as she could. Omar couldn‘t get off work, I kept slurring, even after Leidy kicked and kicked my shin under the table each time I forced out the excuse. Dante crawled around on the floor next to her, moving from cousin to cousin, begging to be lifted. I kicked Leidy back and said it anyway - Next year, you‘ll see - to Neyda, to people who‘d been whispering about my mom‘s outburst, her door-slamming . . .”
pickMore #audiostitching while listening to Ruby's wild story. She stands accused of murdering the husband she adored which is ironic given that she's gotten away with three actual murders. I was so conflicted! I wanted her to be exonerated, as she was innocent of the murder she was accused of. But but but, there were those other murders. 😏 This was fun.

In “Pronto“ Leonard introduced his character U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens. There would be two subsequent novels & a story collection that was apparently the basis for the tv series “Justified“ I have only read the tagged book & although it is not my favorite Elmore Leonard, it is still Elmore Leonard.
