6 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
A double suicide. A dark investigation into historic abuse. Can DI Ruth Hunter link the present killings to secrets of the past before the killer strikes again?Detective Inspector Ruth Hunter has resolved to put her past life in London behind her. So when two seemingly routine suicides start to look suspicious, Ruth is keen to throw herself into a new investigation, lead her CID team and solve what appears to be a complex case. However, as the former London detective digs into the past of the victims' lives, she uncovers a dark web of abuse within the music industry. Tracking down clues alongside her hot-headed partner DS Nick Evans, Ruth becomes increasingly frustrated by an investigation where there is no obvious prime suspect. It's not until there is a shocking twist, that Ruth and her team are able to put the pieces together of a baffling case. Can she track down the killer before they disappear for good...? The Berwyn River Killings is the fifth book in the gripping Ruth Hunter Crime Thriller series. If you like chilling police procedurals, true-to-life characters, and psychological twists, then you'll love Simon McCleave's page-turner.

It‘s time for me to catch up on book reviews. Cooling off in AC after a long humid but invigorating walk. 🎧🚶‍♀️

Suet624 I chose not to put in my air conditioner this year because I only needed it 3 times last year. Plus I like to hear birds singing and that's not possible with an air conditioner. Of course this year we've had ridiculously hot weather for these parts. So I sit in front of a fan now and can't hear the birds. 😑 1mo
kspenmoll @Suet624 Oh no re: AC.We have a window one that cools the living room where TV is,Robert‘s bedroom & study. The rest of the house has either fans or nothing.I understand re: birds-it has been too humid to last on my porch-that‘s where I hear them.I am finding joy in watching my hummingbird friends who feed on a feeder outside my kitchen window. 90s again today!!!! Suet624 Oh, I‘m sorry about the heat again today! We have a high of 72 today thankfully. 1mo

Another good book in this series although I didn‘t feel myself as involved i nthe main plot as in previous ones. Throughout this one were hints of the story connected to Sarah, and i could feel Ruth make some wrong decisions which I fear will come back to haunt and hurt her. Onto the next one to find out what happens. @EadieB @Tove_Reads

7th book finished for #JubilantJuly

A double suicide. A dark investigation into historic abuse. Can DI Ruth Hunter link the present killings to secrets of the past before the killer strikes again? When two seemingly routine suicides start to look suspicious, Ruth is keen to throw herself into a new investigation, lead her CID team and solve what appears to be a complex case.

EadieB While solving these murders, Ruth is contacted by a woman who tells Ruth that Sarah has had an affair with her husband in 2013. Ruth talks with her husband and finds out this is the truth. Afterwards the man does leave and Ruth follows him and he meets up with Kessler whom Ruth is suspicious that he is involved with Sarah's disappearance. 2y
EadieB She follows Kessler unto a train and the book cuts off right there and we will have to read the next book in order to find out what happens next. I am looking forward to the next book and I am glad that I have that one in my possession. 2y

Andrew65 Think Ruth could come to regret some decisions from this book. Not sure Sian will be able to forgive her, one thing to do what she did but out and out lying to Sian is not something that I think she‘ll forgive. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 We will have to wait and see what happens. I‘m not sure she will forgive her! 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB I‘m not sure I could, but if the Sarah thing comes to an end could there be a possible way forward in the long term. 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 I‘m not sure that Sarah is still alive. Sian doesn‘t know what Ruth is up to. (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @EadieB No me either, and sounds awful but that is possibly the best for Ruth. @Tove_Reads 2y
EadieB @Andrew65 Ruth just needs to get it out of her system and find out what happened to Sarah. 2y
