pickI enjoyed this historical fiction which took place during WWII. I liked most of the characters. In 1940 London the bombs fall all around Josie Banks. Her husband is off to fight the war. Josie is buried alive and luckily survived. She is sent out to the countryside to heal. She meets remarkable people who find her charming. Josie was my favorite character. She finds love and friendship.
23 #65 At first I thought I wasn‘t gonna like this one. But it turned around and I liked it very much. It‘s just a sweet little book.
pickWWII, uncertainty in life and love, upper class vs lower class…I liked this book but it was very, very similar to the one I read before it (by the same author). I guess I read them to close together because I noticed so many similarities.. grumpy old ladies, posh grand houses, men away at war… they tended to blend together.
pickA lovely story set during WWII, and a quick read. Josie is injured when her London home is bombed, and is evacuated to the country. Lots of self-discovery, a love story, and a bit of espionage thrown into the mix. Not great literature, but a nice diversion, and not as heavy as many WWII novels.
I bought this while we were on vacation at the wonderful Gene‘s Books on Sanibel Island. So many books on my TBR are calling to me, but this is the one I‘m reading next.
