Selestra is a witch who can see people‘s death when she touches them and can reap their souls for the immortal king. Only all of that sucks and she doesn‘t want any part of it. When she must see the future death of a young soldier and sees herself dying with him, she realizes their fates are linked and maybe they can help each other, and the world.

I loved the fantasy novel Princess of Souls by Alexandra Christo. It was a great read. I decided to read it because it sounded intresting. I also chose to read this novel because I love retellings. I really love the cover too it's what caught my attention and pulled me in. The book starts off slow but slowly starts to get intresting a couple chapters in.

Selstra is locked in a tour by the evil king, Seryth.
She is imprisoned as the inheritor of her mother's magical powers.
For Selstra is a soul sucker, she can predict death and also harvest their souls.
She doesn't want this fate and is desperate to escape.
Then she meets Nox, a young soldier who plans to kill King Seryth.
As soon as Selstra touches him she knows this and also that their fates are entwined.

I'm not entirely a fan of some of the typical #fantasy situations in this book but it worked out really well. I liked the characters and that even our sides didn't feel neglected. I was esp worried I wouldn't like the MC but she grew on me and I really enjoyed the pace she grew at. The romance was cute and though I cringed at what the MC had to do, I also respect she had the courage to do it. Confused about the consistent Rapunzel references

This first part of the book was a little slow, but it picked up towards the end. Despite being a Rapunzel retelling, I thought the novel would have benefitted from more focus on the romance. The supporting characters in the book were interesting, but I would have like to see more of them throughout the book. Overall, Princess of Souls was pretty good, but unfortunately didn‘t quite live up to my high expectations after reading To Kill a Kingdom.

I love the title as well as the cover of Princess of Souls by Alexandra Christo. The cover goes well with the story and the illustrations are lovely. The plot so far is amazing too. It caught my attention right away. I can tell it's going to be a great story. Also I hate when people judge others for being different from them it's not right.

Reading first impression on Bookishfirst currently so far so good.
