This was good! Billed as romantic suspense, but the case felt like it was at the forefront. I appreciated that because sometimes I feel like the "romantic suspense" genre can get the balance wrong, with whatever case that's being investigated more of an afterthought. This had some good red herrings and an interesting premise. Ava, new to the area, and her talented dog Huck, volunteer for local search and rescue and stumble on something much worse.
