This breezy, chill sapphic romance is a perfect read if you're looking for something straightforward and low on angst. Our two protagonists are so much fun to spend time with - Phoebe's blunt extrovert tendencies are completely endearing, and I love stoic, no-nonsense Grace. The soccer aspect was very accessible for a total sports outsider like me, and it kept me engaged while also allowing space to just enjoy the characters and the romance.

This was SUCH an adorable romance and it made me giggle and kick my feet with cuteness about a lovely sapphic couple with a gorgeous healthy dynamic. It even made me kind of a bit care about football, which isn‘t easy to do. Was there piles of plot and conflict? Not really, I can‘t say the plot was mega special, but I enjoyed being there so much I didn‘t mind. It was like the best of fan fiction in those ways.

SQUEEEEE, this book is SO STINKING GOOD. Extremely well fleshed out characters, smoking hot chemistry 🥵, and the world of professional women's soccer. At the risk of using an idiom that has nothing to do with soccer, Meryl knocked this one out of the park! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Side note: was definitely an odd choice to read while curled up at my GRANDMA'S HOUSE but oh well. Blame the flushed cheeks on the raging fireplace 🤣

mdemanatee Yay! I just started this one on audio so glad to hear it. 12mo

God, Meryl Wilsner is good at developing characters. Phoebe and Grace just click, and I love their relationship progression. I was absolutely ROLLING at the end. Film this along with/instead of Ted Lasso season 4!!! #contemporaryromance

LiteraryinPA Ok, I‘m convinced! 😋 13mo
kissmehardy @LiteraryinLawrence Hope you enjoy! My absolute FAVORITE of theirs is Something to Talk About, but none of their titles are misses 13mo

I really liked Wilsner's other romances, so I am disappointed to say this one is not doing it for me. It's told in third person present tense and there's a lot of internal monologuing, and that combination killed my desire to keep reading. I made it half way through but I never felt an affinity for or interest in the characters. There were already a few steamy sex scenes, but it's hard to appreciate them if you don't care about the characters.
