I‘m not sure what I expected from this graphic but it wasn‘t this. “Reckless” is such a great series, I was sad it came to an end.

“Night Fever” is a once-off. It‘s dark. Some of the sex scenes reminded me of Kubrick‘s “Eyes Wide Shut”. A bit baroque, shall we say?

The art is gorgeous. The story is a huge mind-hump. Was Jonathan Webb deeply sleep-deprived & hallucinating? Are 4-armed aliens coming to conquer Earth?

I‘ve no idea. Mind-hump.

TieDyeDude I liked the trippy and ambiguous nature of the story in this one. Not my favorite Brubaker/Phillips, but a solid offering.
Did they announce \“Reckless\“ is over?! I love that series. Follow Me Down has a great ending, but I\'m bummed there won\'t be more.

Mehso-so

I love me a Brubaker/Phillips and I was excited for this one, but it kind of fell flat. The back says it‘s a Jekyll/Hyde type story and maybe that got me too excited. It‘s a tale of stumbling into a world of drugs, sex and violence, and becoming a different person for one night. Why? 🤷‍♀️ Behind the beautiful art, and sometimes trippy instances… it missed the mark and could‘ve gone further.

Luke-XVX Have you read Houses of the Unholy yet? 2mo
StellaDz @Luke-XVX I haven‘t! I just looked it up and that looks like it would be right up my alley! (edited) 2mo
Luke-XVX The ending didn‘t quite land for me but I enjoyed the pacing of it 2mo
TieDyeDude I didn\'t read the Jekyll/Hyde blurb; I probably would have been disappointed by that description, as well. This was definitely more vibe than plot, but I thought it was decent. 2mo

For my libraries Summer Reading Program, there's a bingo sheet. One of the squares was to read a graphic novel.

I went searching my TBR for a shorter graphic novel that I could read on my day off.

I have no idea what I've read-this is like a fever dream. However, it was compelling even it I had to frequently put it down to absorb the text.

Not sure I would recommend this unless you like noir graphic novels.

TieDyeDude Brubaker and Phillips excel at noir comics. This was definitely a weird one, but they are two of my favorite comic creators! 5mo

A man on a business trip, bored with his life, stumbles into a violent underworld that he's not entirely opposed to. Another great collaboration between Brubaker and Phillips, with some excellent art and coloring. This was a fun, trippy read.

RamsFan1963 I got this from the library, I'm looking forward to reading it 9mo
