'Our Lady of the Flowers', which is often considered to be Genet's masterpiece, was written entirely in the solitude of a prison cell. the exceptional value of the work lies in its ambiguity.

This was written in its entirety from the solitude of a prison cell. At one point the manuscript was discovered and burned, and Genet just started all over again, despite having no hope that he would finish it before it was destroyed, or that he would be able to carry it out with him, or that it would ever be published. It's also my first Genet, so I'm pretty pumped about that.
