I absolutely adored this book. The interconnectedness of the characters with one another and throughout time was beautifully written. The story deals with heavy topics that are handled dignifying and show the characters development and strength. I would be lying if I said I wasn't crying by the end of the novel!

Overall, I was very disappointed with what I got. For as excited as I was to read this book, it was a big letdown. This was my first book by this author. Will I read another? Probably not. I wouldn‘t recommend this book. I will be rating it 3 stars as the main parts were an enjoyable read. The past lives were just filler, and not done well.

I can‘t count this book for #HauntedShelf because I started it several days before October. I think this is my favorite of Arnold‘s 5 books—because I‘m a sucker for romance. YA, 2 MCs who are dealing with grief & start hearing songs that only they hear. The story is interspersed with chapters set at different times where the MCs have found & been in love. Love the little brother in the main story. Arnold wrote the songs & I think recorded them.

“The truth is, fragile things rarely fair well in the world. More often, they farewell to it.” Another Heartland List book and I mostly enjoyed it. I don‘t think the pieces from long ago fit where they were, but this was a good story. The writing is YA, so it‘s a bit choppy and the story is step by step. Book #74 in 2024

Great quote but so-so book; not what I expected and I wasn‘t endeared to the characters.

A YA, slow burn, coming of age romance that spans ages and lifetimes. The main characters, Evan and Shosh both have a fair bit of trauma we see them overcoming throughout the book which made them extremely relatable. As the story unfolds and we learn just how these two are connected through their past lives. I thought this was a beautiful poetic story, but I just didn‘t love the ending. I give it 3.5/5 stars.

to me these characters do not sit as entirely realistic.
For my personal tastes, the overall sincerity of this book is exhausting. I find the intense yearning tone to be dull after a prolonged period, and the truth of every line to be tiring.

Evan Taft is a good kid, he is struggling to keep things going at home and responsibility lies heavily on his shoulders.
His mother has been diagnosed with cancer, she needs help and care and then there is his little brother Will, ruining the house and schoolwork and his father has left the family home.
Then one day he hears haunting music.
Shosh's sister was killed in a drunken hit and run, her life is chaos.
She too hears the music...

Evan Taft has great plans for his future, gap year in Alaska, looking after his mother and little brother, continue in therapy after his father leaving.
Then his mother gets a bad health diagnosis.
Then his dreams fade
Shosh Bell also has big dreams she desperately wanted to go to performing arts college in LA.
But then her sister is killed in a drunk driving incident and her life spirals out of control.
Then she too hears that mysterious voice.
