Great quote but so-so book; not what I expected and I wasn‘t endeared to the characters.

pickA YA, slow burn, coming of age romance that spans ages and lifetimes. The main characters, Evan and Shosh both have a fair bit of trauma we see them overcoming throughout the book which made them extremely relatable. As the story unfolds and we learn just how these two are connected through their past lives. I thought this was a beautiful poetic story, but I just didn‘t love the ending. I give it 3.5/5 stars.

For my personal tastes, the overall sincerity of this book is exhausting. I find the intense yearning tone to be dull after a prolonged period, and the truth of every line to be tiring.
pickEvan Taft is a good kid, he is struggling to keep things going at home and responsibility lies heavily on his shoulders.
His mother has been diagnosed with cancer, she needs help and care and then there is his little brother Will, ruining the house and schoolwork and his father has left the family home.

She too hears the music...
so-soEvan Taft has great plans for his future, gap year in Alaska, looking after his mother and little brother, continue in therapy after his father leaving.
Then his mother gets a bad health diagnosis.
Then his dreams fade
Shosh Bell also has big dreams she desperately wanted to go to performing arts college in LA.
But then her sister is killed in a drunk driving incident and her life spirals out of control.
Then she too hears that mysterious voice.
