I really liked this - mostly. The ending… hmm.

A very quiet novel of a mother and (grown up) daughter and the space between them - what connects them, and what keeps them apart, and what they expect from each other. It‘s very well observed, but I wanted something more.

If you had a lit fic bookclub, this could make for some interesting conversations.

This morning‘s reading. A story of mothers and daughters and the space between them. Very readable so far, if very white-pagey (I don‘t even know what I mean by that. Sparse? Stripped back? The pictures in my head aren‘t coloured in, somehow Rachel Cusk‘s Outline springs to mind).

Centique I know what you mean about “white pagey” and the kind of illustrations that go with it. A very definite literary vibe that one 🙌 7mo

rockpools @Centique Ha! I‘m glad someone knows what I‘m talking about. There‘s a lot of description of what‘s going on round them, but it‘s totally not *about* what‘s going on round them! Lots of what‘s left unsaid. V literary, I guess! 7mo

rockpools @charl08 👍 I got it as part of the Republic of Consciousness Prize subscription- the prize itself I struggle with a bit (more 🙃😵‍💫🤯 than I can handle in large doses) but I do love getting small press books every couple of months. Hadn‘t realised it wasn‘t out yet. 7mo
