Perfect use for leftover wild rice! My toast was tasty this morning. 😋 This is one of the reasons I like this book, the variety of recipes. #Mtcookbook

Christine That looks great! 😋 5mo

First up for #Mtcookbook 🏔️

This book was a surprise. I didn‘t expect to like it as much as I do. I love the variety of breads and how it‘s laid out - user friendly!

P.S. My Cuisinart bit the dust in under two years, whereas my former machine lived to serve for probably a decade or more. 😒 I scored a brand spanking new Hamilton for $20 at a thrift store. I don‘t have to make many loaves for it to pay for itself even if it craps out.

mabell Finding a bread machine secondhand is definitely the way to go! And they seem to show up in the shops pretty often 😄 11mo
Tamra @mabell for sure! I really don‘t enjoy commercial bread, so it‘s worth it. 11mo
mabell I have said that exact quote!! 11mo

janeycanuck Oh, I think I had this book when I had my bread maker! Is there a buttermilk whole wheat & honey loaf in there? 10mo
Tamra @janeycanuck I don‘t see that one, but buttermilk would be good in any of the whole wheat recipes! 10mo
janeycanuck @Tamra oh, maybe I had a different one. The format looks so familiar, though!! How was the bread? 10mo

Another winner from this book - Pumpkin Spice! 🎃

I can‘t believe I let this book sit so long on my shelf without trying the recipes. Sadly, the discovery coincides with what appears to be my daughter‘s gluten sensitivity. 😩 Poor thing.

Anyone have experience with gluten issues? I am wondering if it may be she‘s more sensitive when it‘s in processed foods. (School lunch experience.) We‘re in the early stage of the process of elimination.

TheSpineView Yum! 13mo
Larkken Ooo yum. In my experience, the preservatives and the sugar in off-the-shelf loaves make them infinitely worse, but not if it's an allergy! Glad you're trying the elimination approach, that's the best way to do it. Happily, there are some great gluten free flour mixes pretty widely available nowadays or you can experiment with your own mixes that might work better in your bread machine. Good luck! 13mo
Tamra @Larkken thank you for the input! 2 weeks gluten free now & no pain except the day she ate chicken nuggets at school. I am curious to see whether homemade items are problematic. We‘ll try in about a month. Thankfully we‘re finding GF products as substitutes. 13mo

Aimeesue Gluten is pretty much gluten, unfortunately. Gluten intolerance runs in my family & we all experience it differently. My daughter just gets stomachaches, I don‘t have symptoms unless I WAY overdo it (or eat Triscuits, oddly) and my mother gets really bad GI issues if she even looks at regular pasta. Even if you‘re asymptomatic, you‘re damaging your GI tract. The lining replaces itself every 7 days though, so I can eat it 1X a week. Good luck! 13mo
Cathythoughts Yes I have gluten intolerance, there are some great gluten free foods available. I find spelt bread is ok , as it‘s very low in gluten, also I make porridge bread and that‘s gluten free too. It‘s great you have discovered your daughters intolerance.. X 13mo
Tamra @Aimeesue from your experience it sounds like we‘re going to have to discover triggers by trial & error. Part of the journey - thank you! 13mo
Tamra @Cathythoughts good to know! I am guessing “porridge” is oatmeal? I have plans today to grind some up to make her own pumpkin bread. 🤞🏾🤞🏾 She is indeed lucky there are now so many other products on the market! Last night she had GF pizza. 😊 13mo
Cathythoughts Yes porridge is oatmeal .. and makes a lovely bread. If you look up Mary Flahavans Porridge Bread… it‘s a simple delicious recipe 😊 13mo
Tamra @Cathythoughts thank you much! Heading right over there…… 13mo
Tamra @TheSpineView @Larkken @Aimeesue @Cathythoughts I wanted to share this banana bread/muffin recipe. I made muffins & added chocolate chips - kids & husband loved them! GF! https://minimalistbaker.com/one-bowl-gluten-free-banana-bread/ 13mo
Cathythoughts Thankyou !! I‘ll be giving that a go ❤️ 13mo
Aimeesue Mmmmmmmm! 13mo
Larkken @Tamra yum, thanks! I'm due to use some very black bananas, even, good timing! 13mo
Tamra @Larkken ha! The riper the better 13mo
