Part 2: I bail. Too much backstory, too slow for me. I no longer care what happened, who did it and why. Moving on to another book.

I was in a bit of an audiobook slump recently and this one got me right out of it. I really liked it. Fast paced and I wanted to know what was happening. Great on audio because of the Icelandic pronunciation.
#icelandicmystery “a tale of two people battling against time and fate.â€(back cover) A teenage girl Lara,is still missing after 30 years from the island of Videy, off the coast of Reykjavik, where she worked for a high class family the summer she disappeared. A journalist, Valur, pursues her story, only to be found dead. His sister, Sunna, pursues his story with only his notebook jottings as clues.A list of prominent men emerges. Are they involved?
I really tried with this one. A young girl disappeared thirty years ago on an island off the coast of Iceland. Sounds promising right? Every ten years she becomes a headline and the story tells us what‘s happening with her cold case. Which is nothing. I gave up half way through.

I just don't find this mystery, about the disappearance of a teenager 30 years prior, interesting enough to finish.

I enjoyed this cold case mystery set mostly in 1986. It gave the reader a nice sense of the setting, and it had a couple of surprising twists.
Iceland 1956 - 14 yo Lara disappears without a trace. Rumors abound-she packed up and left, she killed herself, was kidnapped…1996 - Valur Robersson begins to investigate the 30 yo disappearance on his own, but someone‘s trying to thwart him…
