I had hoped it would focus more on the social and cultural tidbits, but the bulk of the book focused on politics. So I found it very dry, very academic. It is also a fat book with small font, so even when I skimmed, it was slow-going. There were a few parts that I found a bit more interesting and did slow down and take in a bit more, and it is a time I really don‘t know much about, so I did learn a few things. Cont in comments...

LibraryCin Overall, it‘s just too slow/dry/academic for me. 4mo

I‘m so glad my reading buddy is feeling better and gaining weight. She‘s had an infection and wasn‘t eating well. 😿

Went for a change of scene for day 2 of #24in48. It was lovely but put me behind.

LMJenkins One of the main characters in Outlander is called La Dame Blanche by those who fear her. 6y
LMJenkins I don‘t know why I couldn‘t get the book link to appear within my sentence, only at the end? 6y
alisahar @LMJenkins I thought of the same thing when I saw it! 6y

Slightly less belated #Riotgrams day 16: bookmark(s). Since I was in college, my mother has given me a stack of these every few years. They're made of laminated Japanese paper. There's something about opening a book to one that never fails to fill me with joy.
