From a message Simon Vance, an amazing audiobook narrator, mentioned that Audible has released over 9000 audiobooks with VIRTUAL VOICE, meaning it‘s AI generated. I‘m going to listen to the tagged book to see how an AI voice sounds and if it gets the emotion and nuance of a story.

For audiobook listeners, how do you feel about AI voices narrating books?

LiteraryinLawrence Whoa! I listen to audiobooks and never imagined a non-human would narrate one. I‘ll be curious what you think when you listen! 4mo
TheBookgeekFrau I don't listen to audio books, but I'm very curious to hear your take on AI narration. 4mo
Smrloomis I‘d give it a try but I‘m skeptical. There are lots of humans who don‘t do a good enough job in my opinion so I don‘t think I‘d like the AI versions!! 😅 4mo

Megabooks That‘s kind of disturbing. I want the narrators I love to still have jobs. There‘s something to the flair. But I‘m interested to try this. 4mo
iread2much It makes me sad for the voice actors. 4mo
CrowCAH @LiteraryinLawrence I agree. This AI stuff is really affecting the creative community. 4mo
CrowCAH @TheBookgeekFrau I‘ll be sure to post on Litsy my review of the narration. 4mo
CrowCAH @Smrloomis same, I‘m skeptical too. And I agree, I‘ve listened to some narrators who didn‘t do a very good job. 4mo
CrowCAH @Megabooks totally agree, keep the jobs with a human element! 4mo
CrowCAH @iread2much agree, this will take away from people who have voice talent! 4mo
