I was disappointed by the ending. It‘s sad because I was so excited to read this book. Unfortunately, I made it halfway through the book and was bored. I gave this book 3 stars out of 5. #headswillroll #joshwinning

⬗ The narrative felt all over the place and also got rather repetitive. Overall, it wasn‘t great, but it wasn‘t horrible either. I mean, I wasn‘t disappointed when these characters were axed.
⬗ The narration by EJ Lavery was fine.

Willow's life has just imploded. An ill-judged tweet has seen her lose her TV career, her fans, her boyfriend, her friends, & her home & gain an abusive online stalker. In desperation, she decides to attend Camp Castaway, an adults-only retreat in a campground in the woods. Here they are worlds away from the internet & Willow hopes no-one will recognise her. This camp slasher makes for a quick and campy (hah!) read. Told mainly from the perspective of a recently cancelled actress, she joins other adult campers in upstate New York for a digital separation from screens and social media after a disaster of a tweet left her unemployed and homeless. It‘s a quick read with plenty of familiar feels for horror movie fans. It‘s not exactly spooky— though heads definitely do roll, so there‘s some gore for sure!

This is a very fun summer camp slasher novel! But make the summer camp for adults who are either running away from something in their lives or have been “cancelled” by society, and make the adults all give up all their electronics for the duration of camp (no cell phones/internet!). There are a ton of horror easter eggs in here -I‘m 100% sure I didn‘t catch them all - but the ones I did catch, I was absolutely delighted by. #horror

About 30% into this really fun summer-camp-for-canceled-adults horror novel (ARC)! There are some REALLY fun horror Easter eggs sprinkled throughout - I don‘t want to spoil them, but they are DELIGHTFUL. Out July 30, 2024 - perfect summer camp season. 😎
