Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees #5 | Patrick Horvath

Sam’s foe was quick and mighty clever. Now Sam must skip town, maybe forever. The town doesn’t trust her, they think she’s the one. So Sam’s on her own, and alone she must run. But maybe, just maybe, she’ll learn in the wild. And return to that town, to face the devil child.

Pickpick

This comic is messed up in all the right ways, the picture book like illustrations of a quiet rural town populated by talking animals juxtaposed with the inescapable reality horror & violence can happen anywhere, be committed by anyone, and have unseen ripple effects. Serial killers collide in this story about the darkness in our midst. A masterful, horrific, violent comic that defies expectations and is definitely not for the faint of heart.

I can't wait for the final instalment in this small-town serial killer story. The illustrations look like Richard Scarry - the story very much does not.
