Inhaled this book in one day as i found it so interesting. However im not sure its going to stay with me. The form is that of a notebook being passed from one person to the next so you dont stay with any one character for long. In a future world a nanite technology recreates all your human cells so that you can survive a terminal illness. But are you still human? Do you still have a soul and does it wish to remain forever in this ⬇️

Centique immortal body? Lots of interesting questions but i think a longer book would have helped you connect and feel more for the characters. I think Anton Hur is a writer I need to read more from for sure. 2w
Reggie All the nanite stuff I read goes into the horror/ai becomes too smart and kills us off territory. This sounds good. 2w
Centique @Reggie yes this goes there too! But it stays pretty cerebral, you dont get up close to any of the carnage. 2w
Rissreadswithcats This does sound interesting. Stacked 🩷 3h

Mehso-so

Whelp, that was a weird little trip.

Although nicely written, this book is a bit of a clusterfuck of sci-fi and questioning humanity and human existence. I listened to the audio book, and though it was engaging, I definitely found myself wondering “What‘s the point of this book”. Maybe I‘m not in a place to appreciate it right now, but it was a 🤷‍♀️ for me.

Pretty sure these wouldn't have been on my radar if they hadn't been recommended to me online.... (except maybe the Anton Hur which has a yummy cover)

MaleficentBookDragon I have Draculas but have not read it yet. 6mo
The_Book_Ninja Nearly finished This Thing Between Us…it‘s good 6mo
RaeLovesToRead @MaleficentBookDragon It sounds like a blast! Something they did for fun 🥰 6mo
RaeLovesToRead @The_Book_Ninja I saw at least two Bookstagrammers mention it and it sounded like a weird social horror. Hope to get to it soon!!! 😊 6mo
The_Book_Ninja @RaeLovesToRead I‘ve finished. Not sure I got the ending 🤔 I‘ll reread the last 20 pages again tomorrow 6mo

Beautiful and sad, but not in a way that rests heavy, more a way that packs in thoughts that will stay with you. Explores language, poetry and music as vehicles for immortality, identity as individuals and as a group of beings. Considers nanite technology, the limits of selfhood, in a very Ship of Theseus sense. How grief and love motivate and change us and the possibilities they might present in a far flung sci fi future. 1/?

Robotswithpersonality 2/2 There's a sprinkling of 'AI could do bad things', but it's not really the focus of the narrative. Truly enjoyed the choice of journal entries, the notebook as compendium, as story telling mode, and the shifting POV and timeline to keep the story moving forward, even as it maintains a dreamy, contemplative quality. Gorgeous writing. ⚠️Miscarriage, suicidal ideation 6mo
