I had hopes but I guessed the murderer within the 1st twenty pages and the other twists very early.
And this really bugged me: the year was 1999 the MC mentioned that the original Planet of the Apes was playing at the local theater…How. Would. She know it was the original? The remake was in 2001. With two authors, editors…why did no one catch that? There were things repeatedly alluded to that made it strange…it just wasn‘t for me. ☹️

Wow... this one kept me guessing the entire time. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I'd be veered in another direction. I love when I want to rush to the end so I can see who did it! Great read ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I like the way the story was written in alternating chapters between 1999 and 2023 showing the reader the disappearances vs being told what happened. What makes this a slower pick for me is the 2023 characterization of the MC, Lyndsay. I think the story would have been better had they edited out her angst, made her more likable, and gave the reader fear for her safety.

With multiple perspectives, a late-1990s & a modern storyline plus multimedia content, this writing duo‘s second novel makes for an engaging mystery. Jess Fadley disappeared in only moments from the front of her home while her younger sister looked away for only ten seconds. 24 years later, the grisly discovery of remains brings new focus on what was actually a string of disappearances. Red herrings & a real twist beg for this one to be discussed!
