pickLoved this audiobook. As an NYC restaurant obsessive, I‘ve followed the food scene in question for a long time and her raw accounting of working with Batali and Bourdain is fascinating. There are few surprises here with Batali coming across as pretty gross and Bourdain as a genuinely good guy, but I can read about these personalities all day. Woolever is also remarkably brave in talking about her own struggles with alcohol, her marriage and more.
pickThis was a great memoir, in my opinion. The author did not hold back and was vulnerable about all her own shortcomings and addictions.

pickI‘m wondering if Laurie Woolever has any secrets left after this memoir! She shares her time as a private chef for the incredibly rich, as an assistant to Mario Batali, as well as Anthony Bourdain (Tony comes out much more lovely in the book and Batali is a pig.). She shares her personal life with great detail, not sparing any of the messiness of real life: her dating life, marriage, giving birth, becoming a mother, her own mother‘s illness.
pickA delicious peek behind the curtain of the celebrity food world ranging from downright seedy to totally outlandish! Laurie‘s exposè of herself and her famous bosses is raw and unflinching, presenting her soul-searching journey through addiction while striving in the food industry on a steaming silver platter. I was mesmerized the entire time! 5 ?

I had put my membership on pause, but when I saw this Bourdain-adjacent book I have been following for a year was a pick, I unpaused. But it wouldn‘t let me add any more books like Liquid, which sounded cool, or Wild Dark Shore. So I ordered and called an hour later when customer support opened to see if I could add to my box. Nope label printed done and done. ⬇️
