This beautifully written historic story tells of the lives of Lady Arbella and Ami.
Lady Arbella is part of the extended royal family and has been brought up by her grandmother after her parents died.
Her grandmother is very controlling. Everything her grandmother does is a transition and not done for love. Arbella can‘t smile or find someone to marry who she loves as that won‘t be a good ‘business move‘. Follows the struggle of court life.

A riveting and well-written book about a real-life woman who could've become Queen of England, but never did. Terrific historical fiction.

Texreader Oh this quote gets to me. I've had tinnitus since I was born, probably, and it manifests as a loud whistle (imagine a coach's whistle). When I was a little girl I remember asking my mom and sister if that "whistling was inside my head" or whether they heard it too. ? 8y
KerriNTurner @Texreader I can't imagine how frustrating that must be, both the tinnitus itself and the not knowing if it was inside your head or out of it. My sympathies. 8y
