Charleston Receipts | T. H. Huguenin

This rare collection of recipes is America's oldest existing Junior League cookbook. It reflects Charleston's 300-year history of Southern cooking at its best.

Our library friends group received an excellent donation. This is a book of recipes. The word recipe is misspelled as receipt on every. single. page. 🤷🏻‍♀️

JacqMac This made me smile. My mom always misspelled recipe like this. She just couldn‘t get it. 6y
AmandaFields @JacqMac Aw, that‘s sweet. While we were looking at this, a young kid came up and said he didn‘t get the joke. I had to really concentrate to write out ‘recipe‘ correctly to show him how close the words are😄 6y

I went to B&N yesterday and realized there‘s a spot on the receipt for recommendations for other books based on your purchases. ❤️📚

Visited a cool indie bookstore in Charleston today - made a purchase, talked to the staff about the upcoming Independent Bookstore Day, and spent time browsing the shelves!

I enjoy collecting community cookbooks. These cookbooks often document regional foodways and are typically sold as fundraisers by churches and service organizations. #cookbooklove @RealLifeReading

Zelma We have a bunch of these as well as a stack of hand-written notecards with Mr. Z's grandmother's recipes. 7y
Kimzey @Zelma , how great to have those family recipe cards. Heirloom cooking! 7y

Cortg Nice! I have a handful too, they have some great recipes in them! 7y
Dogearedcopy I do the same thing! When I go on vacation, I comb the used bookstores looking for "community" cookbooks! Fire departments, churches, ladies' auxiliaries... I don't even cook; but I love reading through the recipes! ? 7y
