I honestly have no idea how this book got on my radar. I don't love the illustrations, but they aren't bad. The story is a pretty fun fantasy - kind of Narnia-esque, I think, or maybe it's just a common fantasy trope. I enjoyed it and I imagine it would be lots of fun for the target audience. I probably won't go out of my way to read more of the series, but if it pops up on my Hoopla suggestions list and I have check outs left, I'll carry on.

Overall, as a story, it was really good. However, as the last book of the series it dropped the ball a little bit. There were some plot holes and some things just generally don't make sense the more you think about them. It did wrap a lot of things up, but it wasn't as satisfying as it could have been. I feel like there is still more that could happen, perhaps there will be a second series.

I have used the Amulet series (and Bone) to help students get into reading by recommending graphic novels. The book has a combination of imagery and words that creates another world for students to dive in to. The story is also a long heroes journey to defeat the unruly king and has good moral lessons as well.

This is a graphic novel following Emily and her friends/family on a journey to Lucien. This story follows their journey looking for a special beacon they need to defeat the elf king. They traverse war ravaged towns and travel into the void where Emily learns the history and secrets with the elf king with the help of Max who has turned back to his real age. The book ends with a fight between the gang and the Elf Kings guards and is a good read.

Oh how I wanted to love this with so many things I love in a book… strong female characters, vibrant rich settings and an element of historical fiction that thought me something new. I loved the desert scenes and the richness with which they and the Nomadic Tuereg people but then there was also an epically annoying lead character in Izzy, some elements of unexplained mysticism and a ton of incredible leaps of chance. 📸 Moroccan sunset last night

Liked that their survival pack included books. Now I can‘t wait for the last one to come out. I hope it ties things up because otherwise I‘m going to be disappointed…

Not my favorite book of the series but still enjoyable. Glad I have book 8 lined up!

I‘m really feeling this right now: “Trust your instincts…And not making decisions can prove to be the worst decision of all.” You are so right, talking fox guy.
