Curious if anyone has one of the Kobos that let you write on it with a stylus? Thoughts on whether it‘s worth it and how it compares to, say, writing on an iPad?

I love the author's ability to keep as close to the sources as possible, while still including a handful of modern concepts in mind. At one point he briefly points out recent studies about how hunger impacts our ability to think and reason, before continuing to describe the accounts of the starved and shipwrecked crew. It's a subtle talent that blends seamlessly with the story telling. The perfect read on a rainy weekend!

Living in his father‘s old farmhouse, Scott and his family are trapped in a sudden and very unnatural rainstorm.
I did like this one but parts of it felt a little repetitive.
#pantonereadingchallenge
A slow and gritty book that was hard to read at times about a young black facing violence and abuse from the police, while she tries protect the men in her life.
#pantonereadingchallenge
Buddy reading the series with my nephew, we just finished this one and he informs me there is apparently a new one coming out in the fall…and my first thought was “wait does that mean I can‘t use this one for my #nerddailyreadingchallenge final instalment in a series prompt?” 😅

It‘s been a bit drizzly all weekend, making it the perfect time to start a book about the stormy seas and shipwrecks ⚓️🌊⛈️
And I legit stole husbands coffee mug this morning bc it matches so perfectly 😆
Boy am I late to the game with posting my #FoodandLit for Venezuela in April. The book was a soft pick for me, but the arepas were amazing!
This really sounded like a book I would love but I just couldn‘t seem to connect with any of the characters. Felt pretty meh about it.
I also stopped by a nearby Chungchun for Korean hot dogs, and they did not dissapoint!
I seem to be having better luck with the food portion of #FoodandLit rather than the book part! 😋
I‘ve read 4 of the 5 #CanadaReads books so far, the only one left is a graphic novel. I know I can easily nab the e-book from my library‘s express on overdrive, but when it comes to graphic novels I just prefer the actual physical book, ya know? Sadly I think I have to face reality and accept that I‘m not going to get my hands on the physical one before March!
Late in posting my January #FoodandLit for #Ghana - another middle grade book with deliciously vibrant graphics and some (attempted) home made Red Red with fried plantains.
Lovely little middle grade wintery fantasy. Three sisters and their brother Oskar live in a cabin in the woods, when one day a group of strangers stop by looking for shelter. When morning comes, the strangers have left without a word, but unexpectedly, so has Oskar.
My first #pantone2024 read!
After his twin sister‘s bizarre death, Mars heads to her old summer camp to try to unravel the mystery of what happened to her.
Loved this one. It‘s quite the shocking beginning and then shifts to more of an eerie slow burn as Mars spends some time at camp, and then it ramps up again at the end. I recommend the audiobook, it‘s got some well placed background sounds throughout.

Sorry this is cutting it so close to the deadline 😬The tagged book was my favourite read during the #Scarathlon.
@Catsandbooks thank you so much for hosting! I had such a great time! And a virtual high fives to all my teammates on the #BatBrigade 🦇🍁🎃
Forgot to post this last night…got a few lines on the #BookCoverBingo! Really liked doing the visual prompts first this one. #scarathlon #BatBrigade @Catsandbooks @AllDebooks #naturalitsy
And sneaking in the alphabet one as well...22/26 for a total of 110 points for #BatBrigade. Not to shabby! #Scarathlon @catsandbooks
Well now that I see it as a collective group it seems I went overboard on the bingos... 😅 #BatBrigade #Scarathlon
I had a slow start on my bucket list but I managed to get quite a few done! 280 points for the #BatBrigade #scarathlon @Catsandbooks
Hansel and Gretel twenty years after escaping the witch and gingerbread house. Lots to like about this book but it felt a bit slow in places, a bit of a slow epic journey. A soft pick.

I think this was my favourite read of #scarathlon so far. I didn't know much about it going in, and I think that's the best way to read this.

A quick and fun read about a group of boys who get transported all over the world and throughout the centuries on Halloween Night. I loved the illustrations in this edition, especially this one that's perfect for #AutumnFoliage #OctoberPhotoADay.

I love a good dedication. 🔪 My pick for #kill for #scarathlonphotochallenge #BatBrigade 🦇
The head of a famous soap empire mysteriously dies, and her wife hires a PI to uncover the truth. This book is touted as “Knives Out with a queer historical twist“, but I think that's a disservice to the book. It's a bit slower and deeper character study than Knives Out and I suspect some of the low ratings are from people who were looking for a fun romp.
A single mother moves her family to a remote island so she can paint a mural in an old lighthouse owned by the wealthiest man in town, when 2 of her daughters suddenly go missing. 20yrs later 1 of them is found, but she hasn‘t aged at all.
Loved how this book pays homage to the unnamed ppl burned at the stake for witchcraft.

A young man who is born into unfortunate circumstances in 18th century France has such a hyper refined sense of smell that he experiences the world through scent. He becomes a perfumer, and spends his life trying to create for the perfect scent.
Ok, ok, i've hopped on the bandwagon - I added some little ghosts and pumpkins to cover up some unfortunate water damaged that happened to these prints. #litsycrafters #ghostpainting #BatBrigade
Twenty years ago, Naomi, Olivia, and Cassidy spent their summer days playing in the forrest, until one of them is stabbed 17 times and left for dead.
This book was a lot darker than I was expecting (ok I know it's about a kid getting stabbed but I wasn't quite prepared for the additional trauma that was weaved throughout).
Did some #audiocrafting to this book and finished this little dude #litsycrafters #littenlisten #scarathlon #BatBrigade
The Wizard of Oz is definitely my pick for the #AutumnPlease challenge prompt for #Lost. A while ago I saw the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's incredible interpretation of The Wizard of Oz and this was one of their super cool stage settings.

Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to visit a few different states in Australia, and this was posted at the front desk of our hotel in the Blue Mountains. Points for trying, but let's be honest, if I get bit by something I won't have the wherewithal to identify what kind of creature it is let alone its sub-species.

Is it just me, or is the flying cat in the sky giving serious Luck Dragon from Neverending Story vibes? Also I think I am the last person to know the musical Cats was based on this collection of poems. #31by31 #spookoweek #outstandingoctober #pumpkinspicereadathon #orangestack

I haven't read this yet but I've got it on order from the library, based entirely on a quote from the book I read somewhere that keeps popping into my head for no reason:
Citrus does not come true from seed. What this means is: If you plant an orange seed, a grapefruit might come up. If you plant a seed of that grapefruit, you might get a bitter lemon.

Taaqtumi - an Inuktitut word that means “in the dark“ - is a creepy collection of horror short stories by northern writers set in the arctic. I don't always love short story collections but this one was great. #scarathalonphotochallenge #dark #batbrigade @clwotick @StayCurious @CatsandBooks
A heartbreaking graphic novel that follows a young refugee who must tell the story of how he and his sister fled their home to an immigration officer. One of the best graphic novels I read this year.

A high schooler discovers her deceased mother's bucket list from when she was in high school, and decides to spend the summer completing it. This was such a cute read, and a perfect pick for #AutumnPlease prompt #FallFlowers (who doesn't love sunflowers?!) #scarathalon #batbrigade
Young Ryn is a gravedigger in a small town where risen corpses roam the forrest due to a decades-old curse. When a new mapmaker arrives in the town, the corpses start attacking the town, and Ryn and the new mapmaker have to uncover the secrets of the curse.
Just starting this one for the #scarathalon, and it's a perfect pic for #AutumnPlease prompt #bones
A series of essays regarding the evolution on the cover designs on Nabokov‘s Lolita, including an entire section of concept covers from various graphic designers. The essays were ok, I have to admit they got a little bit repetitive, but it was worth it to see the concept art. The ones pictured are my faves.
A leftover from Sept but still a few points for the #scarathalon #batbrigade @Catsandbooks
