pickWow this was an intense read. I hadn‘t heard too much about this part of WW2 history before, but the horrors Sepetys describes should be known by everyone. I thought Lina was a strong, resilient character, and I admired her a lot.

pickThis was such a powerfully poignant story. I loved this book and it was exceptionally written but let me tell you this was not a pleasure to read. This book is about Lithuanians placed into Siberian work camps during World War II and it's unflinching brutal. I personally have never heard or read anything about this side of the war and I'm so greatful I know about it now. Ruta Sepetys is an extraordinary writer.
