OMG I CONQUERED THE CHONKY BOI. I almost hate how much I enjoyed this but it fed the part of my soul that grew up watching soap operas with my grandma. I feel like this is what you get when you put a white guy in charge of writing a telenovella set in a fantasy world. I am addicted.

I did it I finally managed to finish this and it was my March #BookSpin if that gives you an idea of how long I've been at it. It was good but took me too long to actually become invested in the characters and the world. I liked the non-human perspective it took but oof it was slow to start for me.

Okay so I was a little disappointed with the Well of Ascension but this one was truly back to the glory of the first. I loved how everything was built upon and the resolution came together nicely. There were some guessable twists and some that were still utterly surprising which I feel is the best because you get the little satisfactions of knowing and then the thrill of omg what just happened.

I did a lot of #audiogaming in June so most of my completed reads this month are in audio. I also conquered a chunkster so all in all a pretty great reading month. Favorite book of the month goes to the tagged.
5 audio
2 physical
All my audio were library lends so not much progress on my #BuriedAliveChallenge but I'm hoping to change that in August.

Historical fantasy and trad vampires are kind of not my thing so I wasn‘t expecting much of this. It was also very slow to start. However, I was unexpectedly surprised that once I got into this I binged it. I absolutely loved Lydia and wish we got to see more of her and her spunky attitude even though this is really her husband‘s story.

Low pick because there is a lot of (expected) animal death some of which seemed unnecessary. I enjoyed that this was narrated by a domesticated crow and we see a zombie apocalypse through the eyes of the animal kingdom. As much as I loved ST the narrator it was wholly eclipsed by the brief appearances of Genghis Cat. This was my April #BookSpin @TheAromaofBooks

I found this to be a fitting conclusion to the trilogy. I think that throughout we've seen some real growth from Millie during her adventures and while the ending isn't all rainbows and unicorns it felt real. I think the important takeaway from the series was also elaborated in the author's note at the end: going through the hard times is worth it to see where you end up afterwards.

I gave the first one five stars and while enjoyed this one too it wasn‘t quite as much as the first. This was a little slower to start because the world was established and there wasn‘t as much of the fun getting to know everyone bits. Once the main mystery started to have pieces fall into place and twists appeared it was hard to put down.

The downside to being on more than one book social is that sometimes you think you posted your review but totally missed one. I finished this at the beginning of the week and enjoyed it. There are some very dark events that take place but in general I found it to be a good read. Normally I find retellings to be hit or miss but I liked the atmosphere created and Sorcha was a compelling narrator.

Normally I don't really care for fey storylines (after binging them in my early twenties) but all the stars for this one. Millie is a pretty unlikable protagonists but I still ended up caring for her and wanting to see how she got on. I LOVED the mental health/disability representation in this as well. I really want to pick up the next one but I wasn't supposed to have finished this before other things on my tbr but welp.
