#FoodandLit #Canada I made Cabbage Rolls it is unclear as to who invented this lovely dish, but we do have a lot of Ukrainian immigrants that came to Canada in the early 1900 s. I learned how to make it from a French Canadian lady. The recipe is very easy.
1. Cook beef with onions and add beef broth pouch until cooked. Cook rice separately. Mix the two together and add soya sauce. Don't be cheap but taste. ⬇️

LiseWorks Add cayenne peper to spice it up. Put the mix in leaves of cabbage and roll to put in casserole dish. Take a can of Campbells tomato soup. Mix with full can of water and mix. Sladder all over cabbage rolls and put cover on it and bake in over until cabbage is cooked. Serve with sour cream 😋 6d

Texreader Positive I‘d love this (other than the cayenne) 6d
LiseWorks @Texreader the cayenne is a personal choice. It is something I decided one day to add and now my family likes it lol 5d
Dilara I had something pretty similar in Hungary 😁 https://budapestcookingclass.com/hungarian-stuffed-cabbage-rolls-recipe-toltott-...
I guess every country where cabbage grows would have its own take on the dish 😁

LiseWorks @Dilara, this is the recipe my mom used to do with the rice uncooked with tomato sauce. But when I made mine for my dad, he loved mine more than my mom's. The campbell soup has spices in it that give it flavor, and yes, everyone has their own take on how to make them. I had some in Saskatchewan, and theirs had sausage in it. 3d

3.5⭐️ Found this to be a pretty good romance novel. I really liked the setting of PEI (been there and I would like to go back again) and the characters felt like they could have existed. Did feel that it lagged a bit in the middle of the book. #2024 #bookreview #romance #canadian #pei #contempoary #fiction

#bookreport & #weeklyforecast
#finished: I completed two books this past week and because I had finished a long book on the 5th, I felt like I had read way too much.

#currentlyreading: As I said above, I had read a lot over the course of over the week and a few days prior, that my brain just felt like mush and I didn't get much else worked on.

melissajayne #upcomingreads: I have another book club read (Huge) that I need work on and a book club book for November that is very long that I need to get started on (Aztec). The Don Lemon book is fairly short and The Housemaid's Secret should be a fairly quick read. 1mo

Due to the Thanksgiving long weekend here in Canada, my weekend is a little longer than usual. I am planning on hopefully getting to most of these during the next two days. #weekendreads

When your family think they know better than you 'for your own good':

But it‘s not just the fact that yesterday was a particularly long day that has me in bed at a time when I‘d usually be serving coffee or writing. It‘s also the emotional toll of spending so many hours around my family.

humouress “Can you please stop trying to throw him at me?” I‘m not sure why I bother. “My dating life is none of your business.”
I swear she cackles at that.
“What are you talking about?” she says. “You‘re an unmarried thirty-three-year-old.”

Unfortunately, when we‘re alone in the kitchen together, she suggests I was woozy because I‘m pregnant.
“Pregnant?” I yelp. “I was drinking.”
“You should stop doing that immediately.”

Love books which you can read in one day. This had all the features of what makes a good chick lit; love, angst, corniness with a healthy sprinkling of character development and independence. But what‘s better than the romance was the friendship dynamic between the main character and her best friend. Call me cliche but partners (guys) come and go but best friends are forever!

I don‘t have any cherry pie to pair with this book, but it‘s far less of a theme than the title implies so I think Jackie Lau‘ll forgive me for eating marble loaf instead.

The book‘s excellent; punchy and highly readable, with a lot of publishing realism in the mix. I can‘t claim I‘m super invested in the romance, but I do love Emily and I want great things for her. If she decides a future with Mark is a great thing, I‘m cool with it.

KadaGul You can add Cherry 🍒 toppings and call it a day. #FakeItTillYouMakeIt 2mo
xicanti @KadaGul the only cherries I‘ve got on hand are cherry tomatoes, so I‘ll eat them separately from the cake! 2mo
