Le Voyage d'hiver | Amelie Nothomb

Pickpick

I like her sarcastic style and exquisite approach on common philosophical themes with unusual and peculiar characters and circumstances.

Zoile and Astrolabe experience a love story so unique and disappointing that Zoile decides to comit suicide by highjacking an airplane to destroy the Eiffel Tour.

"To love a place, you have to see it from above. This must be why we imagine God above the Earth: otherwise how would he be able to love us?"

#MarchMagic #FocusOnMentalHealth Still on the TBR.Most prosperous countries know that some of us have an unhealthy relationship with stuff . Many of us succumb to the feeling that the right car, handbag, or something will fill the void we feel.Hope these writings point in another direction.

Mehso-so

It's 5am and I'm still wide awake. I thought reading on my Kindle might help with the insomnia, but NOPE

This was a poetic essay about sexual desire and how it doesn't always gel harmoniously and conveniently with society's expectations and ideals. Katherine Angel explores the conflict between how she feels and how she thinks she should feel.

It was interesting, but I'd have liked it to go a lot deeper.

⭐⭐⭐ 3 stars

Goodnight! (Hopefully)

Amber by Night | Sharon Sala, Mayu Takayama
Pickpick

Shy librarian by day and wild waitress by night, Amber has two lives. But the bulk of the story is about family ties and expectations versus making a new life for yourself. The artwork is clear lines and appealing characters. One of the best of the Harlequin romance comics that I've read.

WHO never wanted,—maddest joy
Remains to him unknown;
The banquet of abstemiousness
Surpasses that of wine.

Within its hope, though yet ungrasped 5
Desire‘s perfect goal,
No nearer, lest reality
Should disenthrall thy soul.
