My mom and I decided to make a little display in the living room for our dog Toppy right after she passed away. Our display has Toppy‘s ashes with her picture on it, her paw print with her name on it and some of her favorite toys that she liked playing with. Something I‘ve started working on is writing down some happy memories of her because it was recommended in an article I read online.

10/1/13 ❤️10/25/24 (R.I.P. Toppy!)

kelli7990 I think the writing is helping me. I didn‘t write for a few days because I couldn‘t think of anything but after my walk today, I thought of a few memories. As I think of more memories then I‘ll write them down. 2w
Susanita That‘s a very nice display. 2w

Here‘s a tribute to my dog Toppy. Since she‘s now at the Rainbow Bridge, I decorated our calendar in our kitchen with some stickers for the day she passed away and it happened on my brother‘s birthday too. I remember the time she saw a turtle on a walking trail that I took her to. She crouched down in the grass and sniffed it where its head was. It put its head inside its shell.

kelli7990 I wrote down all the times on our calendar when she had all of her seizures on Thursday too. She just turned 11 years old this month. (edited) 2mo

“But it was alive, and Gwendolyn could talk to it, care for it, and watch it grow.“

The journey shown in this story highlights the importance of caring for both plants and animals, which embraces readers to celebrate our natural world.

Pickpick

Such a cute book of Gwendolyn determined to grow flowers attracting various animals to her magical garden. This story explores themes of creativity, responsibility, and the joy of nurturing life.

On paper, I should have loved this. I listened to the audiobook which I found uninspiring and flat. The tone made it difficult to engage with, even though I was interested in the topic: Laing is restoring a garden in Suffolk which she uses as a point to explore the ways humans have created “paradises” over the years. Gardens exist for the wealthy through slave labor. What‘s the impact of this? This gets lots of praise, so I should have gone print.

TheKidUpstairs I really want to read this one. Good to know that print is the way to try it! Hopefully it works better in that medium. 3mo
BarbaraBB I love the cover but I have tempered my expectations! 3mo
kspenmoll I have it in print but not reading it -hope its better than your experience with audio. 3mo

I think this is a good little overview for beginners. Sure, it‘s not an “end all, be all” reference to end all references, but it‘s a good place to start that won‘t overwhelm someone that is new and curious. Beautiful photography and great resource list! Fun way to spend a morning off work. 🪴

Getting into this on audio, finally. Also began dismantling my garden for the season. Going to overwinter a tomato plant and see how that goes. #gardening #litsygardens

#MonthlyMagazineBlitz is a success! I'm down to my stack of Gardening catalogs and The English Garden magazines that I'm keeping for Reference and Inspiration.

But keep me on the tag list @julieclair because I want to keep going. Up next is that stack of recipes I kept from the magazines I discarded. Need to sort and put in my Seasonal Recipe Notebooks.

julieclair Yay! Well done you! 👏🎉 And I love your idea of seasonal recipe notebooks! I‘ll keep you on the tag list. 4mo
