so-soI need background info. For example the author writes about rickets, as a medical and dietary issue affecting German speaking troops. Then he goes on to scurvy. Did scurvy affect German militaries in the 1500‘s? Were there boats full of German soldiers so long they got scurvy? During a Crusade? In colonizing attempts? Don‘t make me guess! Don‘t make me research!!!!
So, if Henry III was the one appointing the popes, did he dismiss one for buying the title from…himself? Bold move, Henry, bold move.
I bought this book because of its beautiful cover. Serendipity would have me start reading it when I was Paris & that I can add it to my mini-émersion into the Hapsburg women that I was planning to start after my trip!
