These were also fantastic reads with Mom! The Immense World audio was marvelously narrated by the author; even through the science-heavy bits, his enthusiasm was engaging. Mom and I bring this one up a lot, and it was really fun to discuss the book as we read it.
Erik Larson is top-notch for making non-fiction feel like a thriller novel! This one isn‘t my favorite of his, but still compelling.
Lots of ongoing thoughts about all of these!
This might be the worst novel I've ever read. Hitler escaped to Argentina at the end of WWII, and now, at the age of ninety, Israeli nazi hunters have found him and have to figure out what to do with him. One would think that it would be hard to mess up a novel with such an interesting plot, but Steiner does just that. Until the last six pages of the book, NOTHING. HAPPENS. I only found that out by looking for spoilers on Goodreads. #2025Book48

I listened to this on radio 4 after a friend mentioned it.
So gut wrenching and so important that Persephone Books have republished.
I can't believe she wrote it before WW2. But also terrifying that it was so clear to her the outcomes.
We need so desperately to learn from history 😔

What if Hitler appeared today—alive, confused, and pissed off? In the times we are living in, I fear he might receive more welcome than disgust. This book is satire, but it‘s also a warning. Fascism is on the rise all over the world. It needs no Hitler, because it has new ways and voices that allow it to spread and thrive. This book asks how we respond when it shows up. Shown: Nazis in Indianapolis.

I've had H&S (as they preferred to be collectively known 🫠) and Tecumseh for 26 and 24 years respectively, and at 1207 and 509 pages, I have to face the truth that I'm never going to read them. So, they join the #AntiBookHaul ranks, and I've created space for four other books to come out of floor stacks and onto a shelf! This feels simultaneously 📚👋😢😮💨 and 📚👋😌🏆

Back in beautiful Bath Uk 🇬🇧 and yes 😆purchased a bagful of persephones from their wonderful bookshop one of which is this one newly re printed , Persephone do an amazing job of reprinting lost authors / works I have never read a bad one #Persephonebookclub #persephonebooks

I bought this over a decade ago, and it‘s been sitting on my shelf since then. It felt like the right time to pick it up and I‘m so glad I did. It‘s packed with history and information but in a way that‘s easily absorbable.

Everyone debates the facts with subtle nuances , what aboutism & old fashioned gaslighting....I'm not debating if the South African immigrant did or didn't do a nazi salute (He totally did by the way), but the dismantling of the Department of Healths department of woman's health & reproductive rights in less than 24 hrs is fact. Can't wait for me Feb appointment to get my paperwork together to leave this country.
