I try to select a fairly quick, one-day read that's positive, inspiring, or poetic for the first day of the new year. A book to clean the palate from the past year and start fresh with positive energy.

I thinking having the book and dipping into it once in a while or over a month would be a better idea that reading in a day. I rate this as a meh read.

However, I am inspired to start looking for my own little pieces of hope.

“Detours are the way dreams and destinies actually come true”

The story is very engaging and I liked the way it was told. Having the author tell his story to a boy on the playground was clever. It kept the story interesting and made his story feel even more personal. Throughout the graphic novel there were small parts of just prose, which was an effective storytelling tool.

I was looking forward to something like Grace Notes in Living A Beautiful Life. The practical things like setting a pretty table and making your bath your own private oasis. This was more meditations and deep thoughts. I ended up using it as an On This Day quote journal. Because of that I will keep and refer back to. The actual book bored me. I've already finish up the year of writing holiday quotes and yearly reminders in it. 😒 #myyearinbooks
