This is Winnie The Pooh for the modern age, aimed at both adults and children. I read a Litsy review that suggested listening to the audiobook while reading this. I wish I remembered who‘s so I could thank them cause it was definitely the right call! The audiobook was narrated by the writer/illustrator, written partly as an accessibility aide for people who can‘t see the pictures or can‘t read the words. The result is that you get some of his 👇🏼

IndoorDame thoughts as an artist mixed in, and he almost becomes a 5th character
hovering out of view as he narrates his illustrations, describes his characters moving from one illustration to the next, and occasionally slips in some of their thoughts or motivations that don‘t appear in the actual text.

I‘ve experienced grief from toddler through adulthood. You‘d think I‘d have a handle on it by now, but I‘ve learned and accepted that‘s impossible because grief is a shape-shifter. This book is a gut-punch healing read. It is full of triggers if tragedy and it‘s aftermath is too much for the reader right now. But if you can emotionally handle the story, it‘s quite good.

It's National Mutts Day so i found these to share. These are a few years old now but here's two of my dogs being festive - Harley and Ruby. Ruby rarely sits still long enough for a photo.

It is important to empower children and show them they can be themselves. It is also important to teach them HOW to do that.

This is a sweet and inspirational book about how to be yourself. It talks about different ways to “be”, and what that might look like. Illustrations depict the text in bright engaging ways. Peter H. Reynolds captivates readers with his art.

I did the #audiobook of this because it said there was music. And the author describes some of the pictures with extra background info. And tries not to laugh when he does the mole. It's actually quite enjoyable. I would recommend it. It's only about an hour.

I‘ve been interested in this book since my grandfather mentioned it when I was a lot younger. Now that I‘ve finally read it, I did enjoy it and I know it will always make me think of him. Not something that I would have read otherwise, but still very sweet

I picked it because it was good, moving even with good insight. Out of all of his books I‘ve read, it‘s not my favorite though. Perfect read for the gratitude vibe of Thanksgiving.

I loved the movie “The Silver Linings Playbook” but never read the novel (or anything by Matthew Quick). This is my first Quick and it pains me to say I‘m underwhelmed. I love writers that choose to portray the ripples from a tragic event in a small town (Russell Banks‘ The Sweet Hereafter is an all-time fave) but I just struggled through this one. I think the epistolary format didn‘t help. Are there other Quicks worth exploring?
