When her aunt is out volunteering at a food kitchen, Carina must collect the ingredients for their weekly empanadas herself. I relate to this book because as a child I always wanted to change my name to something different, like famous people I loved names. As I grew older I realized that the best name was my very own name because it was unique to me.

This book is a great book for elementary school students at the beginning of the school year or if you have a new student coming to your class because like the character in the book she feels like she has to change her name because she is worried the kid in her new class wont like her. She tries to pick an American name. She eventually learns that the best name is her name she was given.

Very much a feel-good exploration of combining cultural practices. The daughter in this book struggles to find a place to belong in her new ballet class when she‘s used to Bharatanatyam dancing at home. Her mom puzzling out how to help her daughter in this experience is a delight. #Multicultural #Dance #PictureBook

What a fun pick for our buddy read @PuddleJumper !! Finished “A Lesson in Vengeance” earlier today!! Immediately jumped into the next book and I‘m liking it more and more as I read.
