Last night was way too windy outside for sleep so I indulged in a fire and #booktime. Anyone else love reading by the fire? (It's the only source of heating on the ground floor of my cottage - living room & kitchen, just 2 rooms so they warm up quickly). Ciara Smyth is so funny. One of the best YA authors writing today, imho. You can tell she is really is in touch with contemporary teens (she is also a social worker).

A wonderfully narrated #audiobook by Irish actress Nicola Coughlan. It's a very voicey novel, told from the perspective of Majella, a neurodivergent woman living in a small Northern Irish town. Her routine of working at the "chipper" & taking care of her alcoholic mom is interrupted when her granny is killed. Her death brings up longstanding wounds: her father's disappearance and the lingering effects of the Troubles. A quiet, slice of life novel.
