"I've never kept someone else's book they loaned to me. Even going to some lengths to return it, and be told they forgot they loaned it to me." ? #ivenever

RebeccaRenner I have. 😯 in college, I had a friend who stopped talking to me. But I still have her copy of 8y
Jess_Read_This @BeckyRenner I think that sounds like a bookish trade... and it seems quite fair! 8y
Books88 I have , but only because I fell asleep reading it and it made the book all crinkled. I couldn't bear giving it back that way so I bought her a new one and kept the crinkled version. I still have the book too, Walking up a Rainbow! 8y

Jess_Read_This @TheReadersBookClub You are such a good friend! When I was younger I loaned my friend my copy of Anne of the Island. (You know, the good one in the series where her and Gilbert get together). She returned it to me battered, loose pages falling out of it, and with blue water color paint marks on the page binding. I remember being utterly stunned and speechless. 😂 8y
Books88 That would have been heartbreaking!! Now I will only borrow books from the library, especially because I have little toddlers who like to cause mischief everywhere. I couldn't guarantee it's safe return. 8y
Jess_Read_This @TheReadersBookClub I'm the same way. I actively try to avoid borrowing books from people, especially from folks I'm not close friends with. I have a two year old German Shepherd mix pup who still trying to figure out what's fair game in the house and what's not. 😒 8y
Books88 Haha my 2 year old husky is the same way. I keep finding mauled doll arms in my living room. Better safe than sorry! 8y
ferskner Who returns a ruined book?! Especially one as important as Anne of the Island??? 8y
Jess_Read_This @ferskner I know!!!! I've never seen a paperback spine so ruined either. I was pretty crushed and then started to wonder if maybe we weren't as good of friends as I thought. Because who gives your good friend (or anyone) back their book in that condition? 😕 8y

Literary edition of "I've Never." Copy and share this picture with the hashtag #IveNever and list something literary you've never done. Comment, if you like, if you have done mine. Despite my podcast obsession, which one might think is similar... I've never listened to an audiobook. ?

sprainedbrain Oh my... I've done that one. So. Many. Times. 😃 8y
Jess_Read_This I inwardly gasped when I read yours; I love audio books! 8y
Sydsavvy Oh do it! Tell us what you like to read and let us give you top suggestions. You can listen while doing chores around the house, while exercising, while driving, and even in bed-can set a timer to help you fall asleep. 🤓 I started them years ago because I wanted to work on my listening skills; I definitely think it worked, but that was a side benefit. 😊 8y

ferskner It took me a long time to get into them, but I've found some great narrators and now I listen all the time. The Boys in the Boat in audio is AMAZING. Narrated by Edward Hermann. 8y
eva_lution Hahaha, I knew this would cause quite a reaction! I'm an avid podcast-listener, so I always have those on when I'm doing things around the house, during my commute, etc... my sister is very into audiobooks, but I just think I already have something that fills that space, and audiobooks don't appeal to me in the same way. I'm willing to entertain it, and welcome suggestions. 7y
eva_lution I read a lot of nonfiction, especially popular science. Fiction I'm picky about... not a "chick-lit" person. I do like classics, enjoy a little sci-fi (especially hard sci-fi, the sciencier the better, ha) and weirdness but not into high fantasy. 7y
