The Liar | Nora Roberts

Pickpick

When I don't really know what I want to read, Roberts is usually a safe choice. While this wasn't my favorite romantic thriller of hers, I really enjoyed the characters and wanted to see those happy endings all around.

Always fun to finish the first book of a new year because it fills so many challenges! 😂

LiseWorks I've never read this one . Is it part of a series? 11mo
KadaGul @TheAromaofBooks I collect Nora Robert 📚. Now I have few books 📚 I can fall back on, #JillShalvis #Emily Henry #Julia Quinn #Lyssakayadams the list goes on..... 11mo
shanaqui I've actually never read a Nora Roberts book, but I really want to. I just need to figure out a good one to start on... 11mo
TheAromaofBooks @LiseWorks - No, this one is a stand alone!! 11mo
TheAromaofBooks @shanaqui - She has sooo many books!! Some of her romantic suspense (the suspense is on the light side haha) I've enjoyed are Honest Illusions, Nightwork, and The Reef, among others. If you like straight romance, her Bridal Quartet is SO delightful - I've read those four books multiple times!! 11mo

How can a book with “smart” in the title be so dumb? Best things about this: I skimmed/read it in one day, got a #BookSpinBingo out of it, and it‘s off my shelf. I have loads of criticisms here, though I‘ll try to keep it to a minimum. First - hero seduces heroine after a day literally running for their lives while she‘s been living in fear for a week - WHILE SHE‘S SLEEPING. Second, heroine is an ex-model-turned-second-grade-teacher, (cont)

ravenlee whose wardrobe consists entirely of clingy, revealing dresses/skirts, high-heeled boots, and skimpy underwear. All of which drives the hero wild (and hinders her escape from goons) so that he can‘t resist ripping those clothes off her for sexy times while they‘re trying to escape, sometimes while being shot at. Third, writing/editing errors are egregious, and horribly distracting. Fourth, series set-up is clumsily done. 👇🏻 3y
ravenlee And finally (because I‘m stopping, not because I can‘t continue), the climax is so stupidly handled - MCs have spent entire book running around trying to find this hidden money at various resorts, yet all the time it was hidden in a wall safe behind a painting (exactly where heroine suspected and checked everywhere they went) IN HER OWN BEDROOM? And she never once thought to look there. 🙄 Thought my eyes were going to roll right out of my head. 3y
ravenlee Overall - please skip this book, pretty please. I wish I had. Now I regret the reading time wasted and the shelf space I could have used for something else. 3y

Um, I believe that word is “palpable.”

EDIT: later on I also found a bit about Noah needing to “temper down” his reactions or emotions or something. Not terribly impressed with the writing/editing in this.

MelAnn Maybe he was considering eating her desperation 😂 3y

This was a very heartwarming book. Number 1 in the series. I am heading straight to number 2. So good!

Jill Shalvis is one of my most favorite authors, and this is my favorite series of hers. I don‘t buy a ton of in print books anymore, but I‘ve been checking on these books as I‘d like to own them. The gods smiled upon me the other day as two were on sale for less than $10 and I had a $10 gift card, so I picked up all 5 books and I have no regrets.

What a fun read...I cried, I laughed and oh, my heart swooned. This story has all the elements that make a great book. It‘s a story about love lost, new love, family and new beginnings. This was a heartfelt story full of all kinds of emotions. What the characters are going through is realistic, the reader could relate to these characters. A sweet story I highly recommend.
